Project GO China

by C1C Evans

Cadet Evans on the Drill Field

Project GO was the opportunity of a lifetime. When else would you have the time and money for eight weeks of study and travel in China? I got to meet important people, profoundly increase my oral and written language proficiency, visit historic cities, and try fantastic new foods - all at no expense to me. I learned firsthand about their modern culture, such as eating sushi at a Chinese KFC, taking a bullet train between provinces, or visiting new monuments dedicated to Americans who fought for China before WWII. I was able to use my growing language skills to talk with people I met, without having to revert to English. Hands down, Project GO was one of the best, most memorable, and enlighteningly educational experiences of my life, and I would encourage any ROTC cadet - both present and future - to apply.
