Lt Col Christopher S. Evans

Lt Col Christopher S. Evans is the Commander of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 425 and serves as the Professor or Aerospace Studies at Mississippi State University. As commander, he leads a six-member active duty and civilian team responsible for recruiting, training, motivating, educating, and evaluating Mississippi State University’s Air Force officer candidates. Additionally, he supports cross-town universities which include Mississippi University for Women and East Mississippi Community College. He is the senior Air Force officer on campus with dual responsibilities as detachment commander and Chairman of the Department of Aerospace Studies. Lt Col Evans is responsible for determining who is accepted, trained, educated, and ultimately commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force.

Lt Col Evans received his commission from the Reserve Officer Training Corps in Aug 2004 and has served over 16 years on active duty. He is a graduate of Auburn University, Ala and is a command pilot with over 3,300 flight hours in the T-37, T-38C, B-52H and MC-12W. Lt Col Evans has been assigned to Barksdale AFB, Eglin AFB and Minot AFB. He initially served as instructor pilot for the 20th Bomb Squadron and Advanced System Project Officer for the 49th Test and Evaluation Squadron at Barksdale AFB, La. Afterwards, Lt Col Evans was the Test Director for Small Diameter Bomb-Increment 2 at Detachment 2, Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center, Eglin AFB, Fla. He then moved to Minot AFB, N.D. where he served as Assistant Director of Operations for the 23rd Bomb Squadron and Director of Operations for the 5th Operations Support Squadron. Prior to his current assignment, Lt Col Evans served as Deputy Commander of the 5th Operations Group, consisting of over 350 combat-ready professionals and a fleet of 27 B-52H bombers.

Lt Col Evans has deployed four times to USINDOPACOM in support of the Continuous Bomber Presence and once to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
